Teal Trail 5k
Teal Trail 5k
The Brightside Cancer Fund, started in 2008, has it's roots in people. A group of women decided that they should use their gifts to help those families battling the Cancer fight. So in earlier 2008 they decided that they would lend their aid by developing a Cancer Fund where people could donate tax free dollars to help cancer patients and their families. This year they have put together the Teal Trail 5K to benefit Laurie Penninga. Teal to symbolize cervical cancer and Trail because it will be a unique, rugged, off-road run. You can make a tax-free donation to the Brightside Cancer Fund at any 5/3 Bank. Thanks for your support.
About Laurie:
Laurie Penninga, a wife, daughter, mother of three, and active member of her local church, was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2006. After enduring radiation and two aggressive rounds of chemotherapy treatments, Laurie was left with the news that these procedures had not been successful in removing the cancer from her body. Recently, Laurie and her family were given a glimmer of hope. Laurie has been given the opportunity to participate in a series of experimental, naturally-based treatments from which others have seen much success. Laurie is already reporting positive physical effects from the first round of these treatments. Unfortunately, since these treatments are still in the experimental stage, they are not covered by Laurie’s medical insurance. The costs for the family are insurmountable. That is where Teal Trail 5K comes in. This event is a benefit fundraiser for the Brightside Cancer Fund, to help raise the money needed to support families such as the Penninga's.
